From Brain to Page
Brandon Collins—a genre-bending screenwriter who beat out over a thousand applicants for the prestigious 2022-2023 Universal Writer's Lab—transforms childhood alienation into narratives where everyone can see themselves surviving a slasher film like "Scream" or embarking on adventures worthy of "The Goonies."
His innate storytelling ability impressed industry insiders during JHRTS' inaugural mock writers room, where his pitch became the foundation for the entire series. Whether writing about being stuck on an Alaskan glacier or living in a motel during high school, Brandon seamlessly blends comedy with elements of horror, drama, and adventure to explore themes of racial identity and social injustice—all with a sharp wit that prevents his narratives from becoming didactic.
